The invention relates to a hernia-repair mesh, coated with thin layers of nanocomposite materials consisting of polyethylene oxide polymer PEO and carbon nanotubes CNT and to a process for making the same. According to the invention, the mesh consists of a commercial macroporous monofilament net made of polypropylene or polyester, with the pore size > 1 mm, coated, at the exterior, with a continuous homogenous thin adherent nanocomposite film based on polyethylene oxide and carbon nanotubes. The claimed process has the following stages: a. making the solid targets for the laser evaporation process by freezing, with liquid nitrogen, a solution comprising 96% distilled water and 4% nanocomposite material based on polyethylene oxide and carbon nanotubes, in a Cu support, b. irradiating the frozen target with a laser beam coming from a Nd : YAG laser which operates at a wave length of 266 nm, c. using a laser fluence of 750 mJ/cm, d. using a number of 126000 laser pulses, e. keeping the frozen target and the meshes for treating hernia inside an enclosure vacuumed up to 10mbar, f. placing the hernia-treating meshes, placed on a metallic support, as well as the frozen target parallel at a distance of 3.5 cm to one another.
